By Ron Hart

Run by Marco Haas (a.k.a. T.Raumschmiere) and Sascha Ring (a.k.a. Apparat), Shitkatapult is essentially the Warp Records of the ever-hot Berlin IDM/dance movement, releasing some of the country’s most innovative grooves since 1998. Strike 100 is not only the label’s hundredth release, it is also a celebration of Shitkatapult’s decade-long run, gathering together two discs of mostly previously unreleased remixes and catalog rarities. And while only a couple of the names on here might be recognizable to the layman, notably Johnny Cash (whose “I Heard the Lonesome Whistle Blow” is quixotically remixed by Apparat) and chill-out room legends the Orb, it’s the artists you might not be totally familiar with that will blow your mind on here, like Tom Thiel, who fuses country folk and dubstep on the brilliant “Laissez Faire” and Das Bierbeben’s glitch-tastic “Delirium”. This is definitely a must-have anthology for any fans of leftfield German electronic music.
