One would have to be a curmudgeon not to like Care for All. After all, all of the music, artwork, time, and talent that went into making this disc was donated, and all the proceeds from its sale goes to the Vermont Healthcare Is a Human Right campaign. The mix of mostly acoustic music is crisply recorded and cleanly produced, offers much to be quietly enjoyed, including the lovely and lilting title tune by noted singer/activist Si Kahn. The few angry tracks, especially the closer by Anais Mitchell and Maddub, openly declare the point of this release. The collaborators cleverly combine the political speechmaking of Vermont Senator Bernie Saunders with a martial chorus that proclaims, “The industry was built on the suffering of the people / On the suffering of the people the industry was built” to create a sonic protest march with the clear goal of having a single-payee health-care system.
