Jazz and dub have rarely sounded as natural together as they do on the second full-length from international sound collective the Embassadors. Burnt Friedman makes like King Tubby on a Daveid Allen bender from behind the mixing board, blending incredibly psychedelic alien sounds for the smooth reeds of Embassadors founder Hayden Chislom, whose lyricism on the horn has more in common with David Sanborn than David S. Ware. When combined, it’s the collision of a beautiful disparity that lands in a soft field of daydream modality that is unlike anything this writer has ever heard.
