Seven Moons, the first collaborative effort between British rock titans Jack Bruce and Robin Trower since the legendary bassist and guitar great’s early ‘80s stints in such groups as B.L.T. and TRUCE, was one of the finest classic rock albums of 2008. This excellent-sounding live album serves as a sonic testament to the successful tour behind Seven Moons that followed with revered AOR journeyman drummer Gary Husband (John McLaughlin, Gary Moore) behind the kit. Recorded during the tour’s third show in Nijmegen, Holland, in February of 2009, Seven Moons Live sees this tight, fluid trio rolling through eight scorching concert renditions of such choice album cuts as “Distant Places”, “Just Another Day”, and “The Last Door”, not to mention a mighty reworking of the B.L.T. nugget “Carmen”. But the real treat on this set is hearing Trower rip as only the onetime Procol Harum guitar master can on such Bruce-centric Cream classics as “White Room”, “Politician”, and “Sunshine of Your Love”, breathing far more life into these radio chestnuts than Eric Clapton did during the original power trio’s rather milquetoast reunion tour a few years back.
