The imaginative trio is composed of Tony Buck of the Necks, Efzeg’s Steve Heather and Trapist mastermind Martin Siewert. Slide guitar passages that recall Ry Cooder’s most atmospheric soundtrack work intertwine with the psychedelic sounds emanating from the old UFO club. Muted trumpets, tenor saxophones and laptop transmissions weave in and out of the treated static rhythmic passages, at once cohesive and chaotic. Spacey, spatial and epic, Bye and Bye I’m Going to See the King is a hidden gem of 2010 that fans of early Califone, solo Thurston Moore and Boards of Canada can equally appreciate.
