With ten tracks and nearly 80 minutes of music, Edits Volume 2 is a must-have for DJs and fans of disco, soul, R&B, and funk. Danny Krivit has unearthed and reworked gems galore on his second compilation/collection. An active DJ with a nearly unparalleled history, Krivit has been spinning records since the ‘70s and re-working songs from the decade.
Rare Pleasure’s “Let Me Down Easy” has full-on soul groove, while Philadelphia All-Stars’ “Let’s Clean Up the Ghetto” packs a lot stomp. Blue Moderne’s “Through the Night” is the highlight, however. It’s a true aural pleasure reminiscent of Chaka Khan’s “Ain’t Nobody”.
On the weaker end of the spectrum are the Midnight Movers’ “Follow the Wind” and Chairman of the Board’s “Life & Death”. But be assured that neither will feel out of place on the dancefloor.
