The second album from Champaign, Illinois’ Elsinore, Yes Yes Yes is solid, thoughtful, dynamic indie rock. The chugging “Chemicals” is the best summation of the album. It’s perfectly Strokes-like until it reaches a big, anthemic middle-eight. Elsewhere, Elsinore make similar twists and turns, mixing orchestral, XTC-inspired pop with ethereal balladry and lavish production. It’s quite impressive and enjoyable, but the overall effect is hampered a bit by the band’s, and especially singer Ryan Groff’s, tendency to sound like Bends/OK Computer-era Radiohead. So, these are sounds you’ve heard before, but they’re still rather inviting.
