Glimpses 1 & 2

(Past & Present; US: 9 Nov 2010; UK: Import)

After 30 years of floating around in record fair obscurity since its original issue in the early 1980s, Glimpses is finally available on CD. A series that rivals Nuggets and Pebbles as one of the finest compilations of rare garage and psych acts of the 1960s, Glimpses has been repackaged to include a booklet of informative liner notes and cool rare photos from the era.  These two volumes showcase a bevy of some of the great lost bands of the Flower Power era, including The Balloon Farm (led by notorious former Bruce Springsteen manager Mike Appel), The Pastels, Galaxies IV, The Baroques, the Ruins and The Buckinghams, among several others. If tripped out, fuzzbox riffs and heavy organ overloads from the LBJ years are your bag, Glimpses is definitely the set for you, man.
