Modern day kosmische music is alive and well in the expert hands of Saroos, the German supergroup comprised of veteran experimental rockists Florian Zimmer of Iso68, Console’s Christoph Bronder and Max Punktezahl from The Notwist. Following the group’s appearance on a 2009 tribute to New Zealand’s ‘80s alt-rock scene with a cover of post-punk great Graeme Jefferies’ “Prisoner of a Single Passion”, Saroos returns with the long-awaited follow-up to their 2005 self-titled debut. What differentiates See Me Not from earlier work is the new creative dimension levied on the band’s sound by its new producer and unofficial fourth member, Odd Nosdam. With the Odd one in the fold, these eight compositions reach a new level of groove Saroos has never achieved before, creating an out-of-this-world fusion of dub, exotica, noise and jazz intersected by Nosdam’s visionary beat science and culminating in a truly one-of-a-kind, post-rock experience that sounds unlike anything else.
