Vaccine, the third release from Younger Brother—Simon Posford, Benji Vaughan, and Ruu Campbell—marks a new chapter in the trio’s career. Moving toward a more melodic and organic sound, the group creates its strongest release to date. Tracks such as “Shine” and “Train” combine foreboding soundscapes with more traditional rock song forms that are nevertheless challenging and never less than exciting. Comparisons to Radiohead and post-Syd/pre-Dark Side of the Moon Pink Floyd seem inevitable, as the album is imbued with a spirit of the experimental and bent on rendering the familiar wholly unfamiliar. But Vaccine breaks into a new territory that is truly Younger Brother’s own. A thoroughly exhilarating ride.
