ShareThe London-based duo of Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton have been producing, mixing, and DJing under the Audiofly name since 2002. Follow My Liebe is their debut album, though, after a string of singles and EPs. The 14 tracks here don’t break any new ground, but they’re a masterclass in contemporary deep house and beyond. There is plenty of atmosphere and nuance here, though Saporito and Middleton never forget it all starts with a good beat. The far-out samba of “Fela” is so groovy the title could only refer to Mr. Kuti himself, while “Sense & Vision” picks up where Massive Attack left off. But the best tracks might just be the two perfectly moody, female-fronted ones. With the rare combination of danceability, intelligence, and intrigue, Follow My Liebe has to rank among the best electronic albums of the year.
