This Toronto, Ontario duo calls to mind a meeting of a young Greg Brown (Paul Watson) and an earthbound angel (Laura Heaney). The duo gets up to good old-fashioned silliness via the opening “Dusty Bones”, the title song, and the brilliantly bent “Stan & Georgie”, each one chock full of warmth, humor, and an uncommonly affable levity. It’s refreshing to hear a record almost entirely free of irony and informed by a childlike curiosity that reminds us how pleasant and important the human imagination can be.
