Chicagoan Danny Long has been called “one of Chicago’s most important experts in the world of music” and this 1971 privately-pressed release has been dubbed “exciting” with “magical material”. Not to these ears. It is schmaltz—and dated schmaltz, at that. With a mix that seems to have been designed specifically to be blasted through department store and elevator speakers, She’s Here at Last doesn’t stand much of a chance outside of a small cult market. The listener doesn’t stand much of chance staying awake beyond the second or third track. Some things may be best left lost and this is one of them.
