Baby TeethThe Simp(Lujo) US release date: 13 March 2007 UK release date: Available as import by Justin Cober-LakePopMatters Interviews Editor Do you know the band Baby Teeth? A couple years ago we interviewed member Peter Andreadis and it got me to listen to some of his stuff and I really dug it. Anyway, I’m reviewing the new one, The Simp. And it’s got these frighteningly obvious influences staring me in the face that for some reason I can’t name. It’s basic, but really good, pop-rock, so the fact that it sounds familiar isn’t surprising, but a couple time I’ve felt like I know exactly who they were listening to when recording this, only I can’t name them. Something glam, some late ‘70s/early ‘80s. Ergh—I hate this feeling. Although that’s probably what makes this so enjoyable, that it’s comfortable without being actually derivative, even if I do think that one part from “The Birds Are Crying” is a lot like Foreigner’s “Double Vision”. But with more dancing.
