"Ain’t nothin’ Nashville about that”, yells Travis Mitchell at the climax of a high-energy title track, created from gutteral, electric-blues guitar and hard-edged country rock. And it’s this standout number which provides a taste of the fledgling Dallas-based quartet’s powerhouse sound, a sound that has taken the local roadhouse circuit by storm since the band’s inception just under two years ago. Unfortunately, the production by Mitchell on the debut Forget What’s Wrong, more often than not, waters down this fine mix of classic rock and country twang into a restrained, straight-shooting Texas country that has the melody but not the edge. Still, when the band breaks into the foot-tappin’ honky-tonker “Sounds of the River”, interlaced with some excellent rock-guitar riffing, or segue into the swinging and rolling “The Getaway”, the potential is clearly there for all to hear.
