Given their name, I Walk The Line could be a Johnny Cash tribute band; but they have much more in common with someone like Mike Ness. The group has a definite rockabilly punk feel about them despite the fact they often use an organ on songs such as “Just Like the Rest” and the punchy, choppy “The Man Without a Name”. The band seems to make things work on the slow-building “Grand Collapse” and the fun-fueled “Dead Seeds”, which brings to mind a European Dropkick Murphys or Rancid. But that Rancid likeness rears its head far greater during the rowdy but fun “Purity”. And fortunately they seem to ride a wave of momentum from that moment on, especially on the lean, catchy “World on a Pyre”. It’s a record that might not have you drooling, but it’s well worth having a listen to.
