DJ Diz, also known as Dwayne Washington, has been spinning in clubs and producing tracks with partner Iz (also known as Joshua Michaels) for nearly two decades. A contemporary of such Chicago house luminaries as Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, and DJ Sneak, Diz has released singles in a variety of styles, from chilled out mid-tempo cuts to hand waving, floor-filling anthems. On From Home With Love, Diz’s first official mix CD, he keeps the tempos high and the grooves funky. Starting off with a sampled interview discussing the power of dance ("All I knew was I felt raised, I felt lifted, you know, so I loved to dance all of a sudden, you know, it became my life. It’s like liquor raises your spirits, I guess, well dancing for me raised my spirits"), Diz doesn’t waste any time, starting off with the Horn Mix of “Get U Some” by Flowz. From there, the mixing is seamless, and the track selection impeccable. Running the gamut from the quirky “Call Weed” by Vibezelect & Bobby Hudson (which samples of Bill Murray from Caddyshack, along with what sounds like Ving Rhames), to the stomper “Lazy Nina Bounce” by Greenskeepers, “A Love Like This” by Jimpster, and the album closing “Q-Boid” by Schmoov, this is a quality mix worth checking out if you like house music.
