Good RiddanceRemain in Memory[The Final Show](Fat Wreck) US release date: 18 March 2008 UK release date: Available as import by Matthew FianderThis is a solid send-off for the boys in Good Riddance. Remain in Memory, a recording of the band’s final show in its entirety, shows long-time fans the energy and speed this band became known for. After release two poor albums, particularly the slack My Republic, news of the band’s break-up seemed almost welcome. They sounded tired, like they were carrying on for no reason. But, in this last show, they capture the old feel and smartly stick to their best material, including only a couple of numbers from their final albums. Fan favorites like “Fertile Fields” or “One for the Braves” sound as strong here as they did when they first came out. Russ Rankin’s gravelly vocals are in full effect, and the band powers quick and strong through every number. Couple that with a generous number of tracks—31— and you’ve got a show not only worthy of release, but a proper going away present from the band to its fans.
