American Noel contains eight previously unreleased tracks, all originally commissioned as holiday gifts for employees of a hardware store. Four are original songs by the late Dave Carter and four are interpretations of traditional favorites. Carter’s “Go Tell the Fox”, a joyous, carefree, country fiddler, announces the birth of Jesus. “Giddyup Said Santa Claus” is a sweetly silly song for all the Christmas cowboys out there. Tracy Grammer’s voice is truly a gift on the traditional songs, especially “Ditchling Carol” and “Coventry Carol.” A portion of the proceeds from American Noel benefit the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Massachusetts.
