It doesn’t get any more twee than Olympia, Washington’s Lake. And after 12 albums, the ensemble finally releases something on their hometown imprint K Records, delivering Oh, The Places We’ll Go. With a sweet, sing-songy sound and track titles like “Big Ocean Blue”, “Counting” and “On the Swing”, you would think this is a full-on children’s album. But then you hear a track like “Dead Beat” or “Untitled” and come to the realization that this is an album for adults, albeit one with a sugary sweet epicenter that aims to strike that most vital chord with the inner child within us all. Recommended for hardcore twee birds only.
