Mixing originals tunes with traditional songs and innovative arrangements, Alaska’s Bearfoot is bringing a fabulously fresh voice, or voices, to Bluegrass and Appalachian folk on their new effort Follow Me. The band’s willingness to combine everything from the acoustic Americana of classics like “The Blackest Crow” or “Deep River Blues”, and the bluesy “Go on Home” to the sweet pop ballad “Sweet Pea” and the high-spirited hootenanny of the title track is truly a treat. Bearfoot is Kate Hamre on acoustic bass, Mike Mickelson on guitar, Jason Norris on mandolin, Angela Oudean and Annalisa Tornfelt on fiddle. With Follow Me, prodigious musical prowess is matched with an obvious collective spirit of adventurousness, which is perhaps surpassed only by the shining, soaring harmonies.
