The band Celebrity is the anti-Paris Hilton

One cannot grasp the full gravity of the song “Nothing Left for You” without first knowing what Celebrity’s singer/songwriter Lance Black has been through. His infant child had a heart transplant, and if that hardship wasn’t enough, this little one’s meds then gave him cancer, which has since subsided. The worst of it may be over for his child, but Black’s nightmare isn’t finished quite yet. After pouring out all that emotion into his son’s medical battle, Black then had “nothing left” to lavish upon his wife. Sincerity alone doesn’t guarantee great rock. Excellent musicianship, memorable songs and smart lyrics are also required, and Celebrity has all of these traits. The name Celebrity doesn’t fit this hardworking, glamour-free band. Those famous for being famous get People cover shots just for farting, it seems, while underrated groups like Celebrity pass under the radar screen unnoticed. But Mining for Twilight is just too good to ignore.
