Hailing from Buffalo, New York (and probably thrilled to be touring this month, given the recent winter weather upstate), Damiera plays hyperkinetic, angular indie rock, echoing At the Drive-In, or Coheed & Cambria without the weird prog-rock tendencies.  Featuring Dave Raymond channeling Geddy Lee on vocals (and guitar), the improbably named Rock Whittington (guitar), Mark Henry (bass), and Brad McRae (drums), the band clearly has impressive musical chops and a strong DIY ethic.  Damiera wrote and recorded M(US)IC (pronounced “Us in Music”, as the accompanying press release helpfully explains), their debut CD, in 2005.  After pressing 1,000 copies in partnership with the now-defunct Tamerlane Records, the band managed to sell every single copy over the course of some 200 shows they played in 2006.  Currently the group is touring in support of the re-release of M(US)IC on new label Equal Vision Records.  Standout tracks include the muscular rocker “Via Invested”, “Broken Hands” and the album’s final track, “Obsession”.
