Gran Ronde

On and On

(Filter; US: 6 Feb 2008; UK: Unavailable)

What with these angular guitars and pseudo-Robert Smith vocals, it’s no surprise that Gran Ronde’s “Retrace” was featured on MTV’s highest-rated teen drama, The Hills. As if the world needed another Killers knock-off, Gran Ronde are here to give us a dose of sorely needed modern anthem rock. “Retrace” is just one of their emo gems which you’ll hear on the new EP, On and On. The band is set to release a full-length album—probably full of the same sleepy, post-emo fodder you’ll find in this 5-song preview. It’s hard to imagine what the band could possibly come up with to surprise us next—a hazy Cure cover, maybe? Can’t wait to find out.
