Leigh Nash Remix Project

(Nettwerk; US: Unavailable; UK: Unavailable)

This is the Nash mash.

The Leigh Nash Remix Project revisits three songs from Nash’s debut solo CD, Blue on Blue, returning to one track in particular, “My Idea of Heaven”, four separate times. Nash, no dance diva, is outfitted in various groove configurations to greater or lesser success.  The “Panoptica Remix” of “My Idea of Heaven” is slightly disconcerting, as it speeds up Nash’s tender vocal while thoughtlessly slapping a formerly meditative melody onto a speeding disco conveyer belt. But the “Nortec Collective Remix” rethink of the same, with its inserted clarinet counter melody, presents a clever alternate angle. “Nervous in the Light of Dawn”, given a “Morgan Page Remix”, is one of this project’s kinder, more appropriate BPM makeovers. It retrofits an original rhythm much more conducive to a newly stepped up pace. Aerobicizing Nash’s songs may be your idea of heaven. It’s just not mine.

Dan MacIntosh is a freelance writer from Bellflower, California, “The friendly city”. He’s married with two children, two cats, one dog, one bunny, and one bird. He earned his B.A. degree in Communications (emphasis Public Relations) from California State University, Fullerton in 1986. By day, he works for a software company (Ah, but doesn’t everybody these days?), and in the evenings he works at Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts where he is hardly recognizable in a suit and tie. He also dearly loves his church, Calvary Baptist Church, Bellflower, where he is a deacon, a praise choir member, and a small group leader. He also plays guitar, but mainly in the privacy of his home.
