Niklas Worgt (more commonly known as Dapayk and/or Marek Bois) saw a crowded German techno scene and indeed said, “Me too!” In 2007, he released his first full-length in the genre along side his wife as half of Dapayk and Padberg. The record at hand, Boisshe Untiefan is his solo debut, and an ambitious one at that. The album hosts one disc of manipulated found sound, bubbly techno ready for dance floors, and another that tests out that live theory on a November night crowd at Tresor, Berlin. His style is exactly what you’d expect from Kompakt, and it’s being released through a label distributed by the electronic giant. In line with a less progressive James Holden, Worgt’s tracks are marked by stock snare and hi hats, unique bass tones, and tweaked field recordings made to fluidly ape synths and odd percussion sounds. It’s solid stuff for fans of the weirder side of the genre, and there’s plenty of room for it.
