They are the darkravers—just ask them.  It’s a cheesy little fake genre label, it is, but it suits them, and they seem pretty proud of it.  Heck, lead vocalist Daniel Logemann even wears a shirt that says “DARK RAVE” on the virtual cover of the iTunes-only Klang Der Unsterblichkeit, the requisite remix EP for this year’s Clubber Lang album.  The first track is kind of a ripoff for an online EP, seeing as it’s just Clubber Lang‘s “Klang Der Unsterblichkeit” exactly as it appears on the full-length.  Taking a bite into the rest of the EP results in a vaguely gamey taste as well, as the remix of Clubber Lang‘s “Around My Heart” only serves to show just what an unimpressive singing voice Anna-Maria Straatmann has as she tries desperately to navigate around arpeggios that jump just a bit too much for her untrained voice.  The remix of the title track is fun in a KMFDM-but-less-refined kind of way, with a new chaotic little keyboard break in the middle to liven things up, and exclusive B-side “Secret Side” actually slows down a bit in the middle, allowing for an artistically valid impression of the band that doesn’t show itself all that much.  Of course, all of it is bound to be ignored for the sake of the closing track, a live take on Dutch pop group Luv’s “You’re the Greatest Lover”, which is so cheerful, even as Logemann growls such angst-filled (or not) lyrics as “Sing me sing me a sweet love song”, that you can’t help but laugh and forget everything else on the EP.  Which, honestly, might be for the best.
