Mink had an opening slot for Perry Farrell’s Dance Party, oops, World Party, er, Satellite Party earlier this year. But while they aren’t quite as spacey as Mr. Jane’s Addiction, the band can dole out a hearty heap of garage rock a la Iggy or The New York Dolls. Such punk-ish energy comes to the fore with “Get It Right” which has all the cocksure strutting of vocalist Neal Carlson to get its message across clearly. Meanwhile “Madame Chung” is another foot-stomping romp and the ensuing “Talk to Me” is a light, but equally enjoyable affair that has the bouncy verve of “Lust For Life”. Mink can do no wrong early on with the slow-building “Dematerialize” bringing a new vibe to the proceedings. Other highlights include “Jodi” that keeps the quality high with a rather good sing-along chorus. Heck, even the sappy ballad “Crazy World” comes off fairly good. The longer the album goes on, it gets marginally weaker as is the case with “Sweeter” which is too sugar-coated. Fortunately, it ends on a high, arena-rock like note with “Will Not Let You Down”.
