The project of Eric Woodruff, former of Delay, is a spacey rock-meets-Americana album that meanders from one very good song to another. Although there are three songs here called “Summer Song”, Prosser shines on the warm, cozy and singer-songwriter nugget “A Worthy Seed” that slowly but surely is fleshed out by a strong backing band. “Summer Song 3” (the first of the three on the album) is a darker, barren number that Woodruff slowly builds a melody out of a simple arrangement. Another pretty gem is “I Met a Girl” that is a light but extremely infectious tune Prosser soars above with some great hooks. Fans of The Rembrandts, Crowded House or Toad The Wet Sprocket would lap up the downplayed “The Time Has Come”, which has a rambling feel despite the string arrangement in the distance. Most of these songs have a timeless quality about them and are done without any huge miscues, especially “State I’m In”, the pretty, relaxing “Today” and the dreamy, slightly trippy “Summer Song 1” that seems to fly by. Although nothing sticks out, the consistency of the songs is demonstrated by the gorgeous instrumental “The Path to a Field with a View of the City” and the Tim Easton-ish “Someday Soon”.
