It’s a bit pricey, but an essential for any Queen fan. The Crown Jewels includes the band’s first eight albums (Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera, A Day at the Races, News of the World, Jazz, and The Game), all brilliantly remastered at Abbey Road from the original master tapes. The combined weight of the 90 songs show Queen were much more than just “We Are The Champions” and “Another One Bites The Dust.” There are the moving gospel-inflected tones of “Somebody To Love,” the English vaudevillian “Seaside Rendezvous,” the gorgeously lyrical “Love Of My Life,” the all-out rock of “Now I’m Here,” and, of course, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Above all, these eight records highlight the enormously stylistic variety of Queen’s music and prove that Queen were one of the finest groups of musicians ever in rock history.
