With its chestnut cover and lousy liner note photo, complete with corny gangsta poses, featuring the Jackson, Mississippi-based Rainman flanked, draped and backdropped by a hired host of short-skirted and bikini-clad vixens, this Rainman CD embodies everything I hate about southern gangsta rap and the commercial-rap side of hip hop (although I don’t know why anybody would actually give their cash up for this album—even though it includes brief cameos by a somewhat more talented southern rapper Lil Flip and was co-produced by David Banner). The music is saturated with misogynistic gansta pimp clichés and has barely an ounce of originality or any signs of production creativity.  Didn’t the Rainman take a look around him and notice the din of club-rap-crunk has high jacked the Dirty South? I would’ve liked to hear him honestly rap about his tough single-parent childhood mentioned in the press release. I’ve never met the Rainmain but I did meet his music and with rote song titles like, “Ghetto Gorilla”,  “I’m a Hustler”,  “Dance Dirty”, and “Stay Grindin’” the guesswork is removed. Just be glad that you didn’t have to listen to this and only read about it. And do yourself a favor and avoid Bigga Than Life just like Rainman avoided giving you anything worth listening to.
