Rediscover

Call Me When You Get This

(East West; US: 2006)

Egads, Rediscover sounds like something that is the result of Panic! at the Disco and Fischerspooner spending the night together and having some homely bastard child after the foolish tryst. Whether it’s “Baby’s Got Her Gun Out” that comes off less than stellar, or “Shake It” that fares no better, Rediscover are a bit lost. Sure, if the whiny, teen angst of getting your heart broken appeals to you, then revel in this. But generally it could grow on you like some sort of moss or bacteria. “Do You Think” again seems to go the exact same way, although this one has just a slightly better hook. This even while the singer is asking his girlfriend if the dress he is wearing looks nice on him. At times, this is rather painful dance rock to listen to, especially “I Consume You”, which goes nowhere quickly. “My Pretty Eyes” is more of the same electro-schlock. I’m sure the members of Rediscover are very nice, but this release is almost painful.
