Not much has changed since Stereo Total’s U.S. debut effort last year, but when you draw from a palate this big, there’s little chance of running out of fresh material. As before, Stereo Total makes a tour through the European language set and virtually every genre of pop music you can name. This time around, they’ve upped the new wave quotient considerably and are dabbling in a bit of rockabilly (“Vilaines Filles, Mauvais Garcons”, in French no less). Then there’s the utter delight of Serge Gainsborough-meets-C3PO on “Larmes Toxiques”—who knew French pop could sound this spacey? My Melody is an all-around delight, where you never know what to expect and are always pleasantly surprised. 20 March 2006Related Articles
