Singer-songwriter Jon Sebastian and his wife/drummer Psalm plough through the record’s opening tracks, giving you everything you could ever want from ‘90s-inpsired power-pop: catchy choruses; cuddly, love-struck lyrics; pithy electric guitar solos. It’s enough to make you wonder why you never listen to your favorite Weezer album anymore. But then again, as the record wears on—one song blends into the next, nothing much changes, nothing much added to the mix—there’s every chance that you will remember why. It might just be that you’ve had your fill. And while The Color Wheels are a whole lot of fun, they also sound pretty darn familiar.
