ShareAndy Goldberg, AKA The Goldbergs, employs melodic hooks over most other beautiful things throughout Under the Radar. Andy wrote and sang all eleven of these tunes, but is also ably assisted by a few friends on various tracks. And when he sings, he sounds a whole lot like George Harrison, only happier (although “Better Times” mainly brings Electric Light Orchestra’s “Mr. Blue Sky” to mind). He even rocks a ukulele on “A Hand To Hold”. He rarely shows even the hint of negativity, at least where romance is concerned, and “I’ve Had Enough” is one of the few glass-half-empty spots. But for the most part, this diehard believer in love reveals more hope than pumpkin patch Linus—especially during opener, “Please Won’t You Please”, as Under the Radar comes off over the top in love.
