There was an unfortunate accident concerning the The Interiors and a gust of wind. After signing a record deal, guitarist and vocalist Chase Duncan had a door slam on his hand from a gale of wind. The result was part of his left index finger being amputated. The Interiors have carried on, intent on crafting catchy garage rock-oriented songs such as the leadoff track “I’m So Happy” which ends with the listener wanting a bit more. The band also comes off looking good during the mid-tempo “The Bug” but the ensuing “A Crooked Line” is a bit iffy at best as the trio muddles its way through. As the album continues, Duncan and company hit and miss as “You Should Have Known” lacks any sort of urgency depending on a groove that isn’t good enough to carry the song. “Wingman” is more of the same and by now it appears the band has hit a wall of sorts creatively. The album’s highlight is without question the primal, perfect “Ghosts” which conjures up images of ‘70s garage bands. But a very high-quality runner-up is the rockabilly romp-meets-rave up entitled “Shooting Off”.
