ShareTaking its name from the African National Congress pirate radio station, This Is Radio Freedom combines the spirit of punk and the energy of synth-heavy dance rock with the down and dirty danger of rock and roll on the group’s self-titled debut EP. Hailing from Cardiff and based in London, the band has been compared with Primal Scream (in fact the two have played some festivals together), and disc opener “Bombthreat” demonstrates why. The song is a snarling juggernaut of retro electro-clash complete with an incendiary chorus of “This is now your war / You are a bombthreat / This is now your war.” “Family Man”, which is presented along with three brilliant remixes, and “Sleep It Off” are the EP’s other outstanding tracks with deep bass rumblings and serrated slashes of guitar underscoring the irrefutably compelling vocals of singer Matt Rimmer. This Is Radio Freedom is a call to action that is not be ignored!
