Yes indeed, another Swedish band. Minty Fresh has made their name in part by releasing stateside versions of records by a number of Swedish pop masters—Komeda and The Cardigans spring to mind immediately. The Twelve Caesars are a much rockier band than others in the Minty Fresh stable. Blazing rocker “Sort It Out” leads off and sets the tone with a fiery guitar attack and buzzsaw vocals ala Johnny Rotten, albeit with a set of somewhat weak lyrics laden with drug references. “(I’m Gonna) Kick You Out” is a rollicking organ-drenched number the draws equally from the Brit-blues of The Animals and the post-punk ravings of Magazine. The rest of the album maintains the frenetic pace and combination of punchy guitars, punk vocals, and pop melodies.
