Two Cow Garage

III

(Shelterhouse)

US release date: 24 April 2007

UK release date: 14 May 2007

By Lester Feder

The Ohio-based trio Two Cow Garage clearly ran out of ideas when titling their third album, III. While the band plays with a grit and enthusiasm that will immediately grab fans of alt.country and Rock and Roll, most of their arrangements are similarly devoid of imagination. Lead singer Micah Schnabel’s horse belting is tiring and often overpowered by his overdriven guitar. This assaulting texture makes it hard to pay attention to the lyrics. The album’s strongest songs are its most subdued. By stepping back from full-throttle delivery, the band reveals a versatility they will hopefully cultivate in their next project.
