Fans of the Japanese dance label Mule Electronic will be satisfied with My Favorite Things, Vol. 2. The eleven pieces of moody, near-ambient house and techno are a good representation of the label’s sound. Better, they’re previously unreleased. Familiar Mule names like Koss, Lawrence, and Minilogue are all here, simultaneously calming you and daring you to dance. Lawrence’s pretty, flowing “Jill” bodes well for his upcoming album, while Move D’s “Happylock” actually gets funky with a sampled bassline. This compilation provides a nice introduction to a label that successfully toes the line between the ethereal and the dull.
