We might have to wait some time yet for the Sleater-Kinney reunion Carrie Brownstein hinted at when she announced her own new project in this interview with the Guardian, but news of a Corin Tucker solo album will be more than enough keep their fans happy. According to Kill Rock Stars, Tucker will be releasing a solo effort in October 2010, which she has been recording in Portland. Tucker herself describes the upcoming album as “more of a middle-aged mom record” in the Portland Mercury, though, if YouTube videos of her performance at a bookstore benefit in March 2009 are any indication, her idea of mom rock is anything but mellowed out. Check out this sample of Tucker’s intense but slower burning solo work on YouTube from the March 2009 benefit, if you can bear with the crowd noise and the shaky camera frame.
