The Coen Brothers return this Christmas with their take on True Grit, Charles Portis’ 1968 western novel. Of course, the book was already adapted into a 1969 star-vehicle for John Wayne, but judging by this trailer, the Coens’ version promises to be darker in tone. The role of Rooster Cogburn is filled out by Jeff Bridges, making this his first collaboration with the Coens since the Big Lebowski. It also stars Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie Ross.
