Rachael Yamagata & Friends
26 Sep 2012: Rockwood Music Hall New York
Opening act Adrien Reju was also one of the many friends Rachael Yamagata later shared the small Rockwood Music Hall stage with. Both ladies are presently based in Woodstock, New York, but Reju, at the behest of Yamagata, came down to join her for the final night of a four night residency. The intimate venue was sold out this night, as had been the case the last three weeks. And Yamagata was clearly excited to be there. She shared stories and jokes with the audience, some about ex-lovers (one that Reju might know), some about possible lovers (getting intimate with Ed Romanoff while the cellist gets stuck in the middle) and some at her own expense. More importantly, Yamagata also shared her music, songs both older (from her album Chesapeake) and new, like the forthcoming “Heavyweight” about a boxer/fighter and inspired by her time in Philly is one example of a new song to be on an EP in November, while alternating between piano and guitar.
