The 2012 Social Good Summit spread out across three days in New York and across the world, with events in Beijing and Nairobi, through the technology of Mashable and Meetup. Panels and discussions ensued about the role individuals, particularly youths, and technology play in influencing the "global conversation".

Social Good Summit

With a list of speakers a mile long, the Social Good Summit was held from the 22nd to the 24th of September 2012 at the 92nd Y in New York City and across the world in Beijing and Nairobi, as well as various locations organized by individuals. The Summit fueled an online discussion as part of the UN Foundation’s ‘Global Conversation’ (and the hashtag #SGSglobal was thrown around a lot on the internet). It would be well worth your time to visit the official Mashable Social Good Summit site and get an idea of what the topics were, as many of them are pertinent to you whether you know it or not, to see videos of the many, many panels and to share your voice.

Photos of people below are from Monday, the third and final day, and include, Elizabeth Gore, Janet Napolitano, Deepak Chopra, Angelique Kidjo, Zain Verjee, Nick Kristoff (speaking about the Half the Sky documentary) and more. Many of them discussed how young people are more empowered today than ever before and how to mobilize people to end poverty, eradicate polio forever, prevent climate change and to observe safe cyber behavior.
A larger gallery of high res images from Day 3 are over at PopMatters’ Facebook page.

Videos of the panels are archived here for your viewing pleasure.
