Caged Animals - "Too Much Dark" (video) (PopMatters Premiere)

by PopMatters Staff

7 August 2013

The refrain of Caged Animals’ latest single “Too Much Dark” goes “There’s too much dark / And not enough light,” but that’s hardly the case with the song itself. Described as the bedroom-pop project of singer-songwriter Vincent Cacchione, Caged Animals strike just the right balance on the track between the shadowy intimacy of Cacchione’s still production and glimmers of brightness that provide just enough light with steadily rising synths and twinkling instrumentation. On “Too Much Dark”, Cacchione finds that comfort zone between feeling small and sounding big that acts like this one should be aiming for.

PopMatters premieres the video for “Too Much Dark”, which appears on Caged Animals’ upcoming album In the Land of Giants, due 3 September on Lucky Number.
