Goldfrapp - "Annabel" (video)

by Jennifer Makowsky

8 October 2013

Following the video for “Drew“ from their latest album, Tales of Us, Goldfrapp has released a video for "Annabel".

The song is based on the protagonist of Kathleen Winter’s novel Annabel: A Novel, which follows the struggles of a young hermaphrodite whose female genitalia was sewn shut as a baby. As any of the band’s fans would expect, Goldfrapp treats the subject delicately and with quiet grace. The video, directed by Lisa Gunning, is as poignant and gorgeous as the song.
