Desmond Dekker - '10 Big Stiffs' (video) (Premiere)

by PopMatters Staff

5 November 2013

Desmond Dekker is a straight-up ska legend, as essential to the genre as water is for life.

Stiff Records is releasing an exciting new limited edition box set of ten 7-inch singles entitled 10 Big Stiffs and there is a video for each of those songs and artists. Releasing 26 November as a Record Store Day exclusive, the collection highlights the very best of the hugely influential Stiff Records, which was at the center of the late ‘70s ska and punk scene in the UK. In this video, directed by noted filmmaker Nigel Dick, UK journalists and label people talk about the popularity of ska with Britain’s working class and Dekker’s place as a ska king.
