Brooklyn's Twintapes is an electro-pop group featuring a warm electronic sound underpinned by strong groovy beats and an experimental spirit.

The band’s first single is “Fast Forward”, premiering today on PopMatters, and it showcases that aesthetic perfectly. Check out Twintapes’s web site for several videos that’ll help tell the rest of their story. Meanwhile Twintapes frontman takes us through their approach to composing music.

“I have been concentrating on writing well-crafted, relatable lyrics that tell a story. I feel that when musicians start focusing on this dual aspect of lyric and melody writing the music becomes stronger. When I started composing the music I didn’t have any lyrics in mind, but I just had a fight with my girlfriend (who is a writer). I was having a hard time concentrating and coming up with lyric ideas and I thought to myself, why don’t I just write about what is happening right now? So, I started working on it and I played her a draft with some placeholder lyrics. By this time, the matter was resolved. We sat down together to brainstorm ideas and the song and story really took shape.”—Pavel Rivera of Twintapes
