Iska Dhaaf - 'Even the Sun Will Burn' (album stream) (Premiere)

On Iska Dhaaf's debut Even the Sun Will Burn, the bittersweet hints of '60s psychedelia lend depth and texture to catchy indie-pop melodies.

Seattle duo Iska Dhaaf takes its name from the Somali phrase for “let it go”. But there’s not much translation needed for the synth-laced indie-pop of Iska Dhaaf’s debut full-length Even the Sun Will Burn, recorded at Olympia, Washington’s underground rock mecca, Dub Narcotic Studios. Consisting of singer/guitarist Nathan Quiroga and keyboardist/drummer Benjamin Verdoes (of Mt. Saint Helens Vietnam Band), there are bittersweet hints of ‘60s psychedelia that lend depth and texture to the swirling, catchy melodies.
Premiering on PopMatters, Iska Dhaaf’s Even the Sun Will Burn comes out 11 March, via Brick Lane.
