Check out and download the latest tune from Alejandra O'Leary and the Champions of the West, "Skin to Skin".

The Detroit, Michigan-based outfit Alejandra O’Leary and the Champions of the West are set to release a new LP soon, and leading up to the release the group is offering single “Skin to Skin” as a download.

Alejandra tells PopMatters about the song: “The song’s evocative lyrics trace the gritty textures of love, longing, and loss in shimmering Polaroid images of nostalgia and resignation: ‘I’m throwing in the towel cos I can’t hack it/The cash I gave you in your jacket pocket/I’m taking off my clothes and turning down the heat/And dropping out of the action.’ The band, led by Jamie Church on piano, Jimmy Sindelar on lead guitar, Jamie Ascenzo on pedal steel, Martin Maginity on drums, and Rachel Common on backup vocals, performs with both turbulence and control as O’Leary’s melody churns over the tension. Anyone who has ever contemplated a person who was once an intimate friend from a instant distance that came all too suddenly will recognize themselves in this song.”
